Bremed Electric Heat Pack Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I activate / switch on my electrical heat pack?

Our electrical heat pack is powered by electricity, so you will need to plug it into a power source, then switching the heat to

  • Level 0: zero / no heat
  • Level 1: medium heat
  • Level 2: high heat

Please take note of safety precautions with use.

How long does it take to heat up?

Once you have plugged it in and set the heat setting of choice, the heating coils inside will immediately start to heat up. If you'd like it to be hotter (please be careful of safety and do not use directly on skin, keep cover and a layer of towel in between), then you can wrap it with a towel to prevent heat loss.

For best electrical heat pack outcomes, switch it on and leave it on for at least 15 minutes before using.

How long does the heat last?

As it's an electrical heat pack, as long as it's plugged into a power source, and the heat is indicated at level 1 or 2, the heat generated will be ongoing.

Can I put my electrical heat pack in the microwave?

No, please don't - the electrical heat pack doesn't need to be placed in the microwave to be heated up.

Can I wash the cover?

Yes, you are recommended to wash the cover frequently for hygiene purposes. One way to "bypass" this is to wrap your electrical heat pack with a towel first, hence you can then replace the towels instead.

How many times can this electrical heat pack be used?

This depends on how the electrical heat pack is cared for and used. During my hand therapy practice, I would use two electrical heat packs at a go (wrapped in towels), for 6-8 hours per day, continuously, 5-6 days a week.

My electrical heat packs would be changed roughly every 9 months to 12 months. Assuming I use:

  • 7 hours per day
  • 5.5 days per week
  • 11 months

...that's 1848 hours per electrical heat pack.

What's inside the electrical heat packs? Are they safe to use?

Inside is heating coils that are carefully designed with 2 thermostats to ensure that it never overheats and that the heat is consistent. It is safe to use (I've used them for thousands of hand therapy patients/sessions) but please read the safety use precautions.
